Have you gotten a new PC lately and are unsure of some of the features? Windows 8 and 10 have many changes that make it different from Windows 7. Tablet Mode in Windows 10
If you have a tablet like the Surface that runs on Windows 10, there’s a special mode that allows for a cleaner layout, more intuitive touch controls, and a Windows 8 style start screen. Bring up the Action Center sidebar, and then turn tablet mode on. You’ll also be able to determine when to activate tablet mode, and whether or not you would like to automatically switch it on and off.
Aero Shake
Introduced in Windows 7, the aero shake feature minimizes every single window but the one you are working in. This will work in most internet browsers and applications you use.
Simply grab the window and give it a few quick shakes to the left and right. This will allow you to view your desktop, plus the window you shake. This tool is great for multi-taskers who need to access files on their desktop frequently.
Battery Saving Solutions
Laptops running Windows 8 and 10 have menus that can help improve your battery’s life. In Windows 8, this menu is called the Windows Mobility Center, and also includes other options regarding monitors and external displays. Type “mobility” into the search bar on the start screen and select “settings.”
In Windows 10, battery saving options have its own menu. On your keyboard, hit Windows + I at the same time. This will launch settings. Then, go to System -> Battery Saver. This screen will show you how much battery charge you have left in both percentage and time, along with access to power settings.
Record Your Steps When Having an Issue
Ever have an issue where you wish you could show the person on the other end what you are talking about? You can if you have Windows 7, 8 or 10! The Problem Steps Recorder creates a slideshow based on the steps you take to get to an issue. For Windows 7 and 8 users, go to the windows button and search for “psr” in the search bar. Windows 10 users can simply go to the desktop screen and search for “psr” by hitting the Inside Search Button.
A bar will then appear on your screen with the option to start recording. Simply hit Start Record and go through every step you take before encountering an issue. This feature could make your troubleshooting processes more efficient.
