The holidays are here and many people are busy planning fun activities and celebrations with their family and friends. With all of the commotion, it’s important to remember that pets are often considered family to many people too. Here are four ways to include your furry friends in all of the holiday action:
Surprise Them with a Gift
With gift giving being a centralized part of the holiday season, it can be fun to get your favorite pets a few new toys so they can join in on all of the excitement! If your family is planning on leaving the house for part of the day, giving pets some new toys to enjoy ensures they’ll keep busy while you’re gone.
Just like many of us look forward to delicious holiday meals, you can make sure special pets get exciting treats. From making them a homemade meal to buying them special edible gifts, giving your furry friends something beyond their normal food will be sure to keep their tails wagging all season long.
Four legged friends can volunteer too! Participate in fundraising dog walks and events, or donate old dog clothes, toys, and beds to your local animal shelter. If your fur-bud is well behaved, some local retirement homes may even welcome your pet for a special visit with its residents. Call ahead to make arrangements and be sure to track and keep your pet up to date on their vaccines.
Take Family Photos
If you take an annual holiday photo, including your pet can make the experience and final product even more enjoyable. Dress up your pet in festive holiday-wear or convince them to flash their best smile by having the photographer hold a treat up. You’ll love looking back on such special moments for years to come.
Happy Fur-Friendly Holidays!
