Prioritizing Your Health In The Winter

How do you make health and wellness a priority throughout the winter? From making sure you get some sun on a regular basis to carving out specific times for rest, we have a few helpful strategies to make your health a priority throughout the colder months.

Go For a Walk

While heading outside may seem counterintuitive during the winter, it can actually offer a host of benefits that can improve your health.  Getting fresh air and spending time in the sunlight can boost your overall mood and energy levels. While it’s important to dress appropriately for the colder weather, the extra time you take putting on your warmer gear will likely be worth it in the end.

Open the Windows

While it might make more sense to try and keep the warm air inside your space, it’s actually helpful to open the windows at least once a day in order to promote airflow. By opening a window for as little as a minute, you’ll be allowing toxic pollutants to escape the space and replacing it with fresh air from outside, helping you to feel better and breathe easier.

Schedule Time for Rest

The winter months mean spending more time inside, which means household chores and other daily activities can quickly become how you fill your free time. While it’s great to keep your space organized and tidy, it’s equally as important to prioritize rest time. Whether you curl up on the couch with your favorite book or finally start that puzzle you’ve been wanting to complete, spending time relaxing and resting can be key for maintaining a healthy balance in your life.

Eat Your Veggies

Remember, you are what you eat! The winter months, while filled with delicious sweet treats, are also a great time to fill up on the many fruits and vegetables that are in season, including grapefruit, oranges, kale, sweet potatoes, and more. By maintaining a healthy and balanced diet, it’s likely you’ll see an increase in your energy levels, despite the colder weather.
