You may have noticed that companies seem obsessed these days with getting you to “like” them on Facebook. You can’t browse the internet without being inundated with requests to like a company’s Facebook page or with offers and contests dependent on doing so.

Oil spills have a great effect on the ecosystems, oceans, rivers, lakes, and streams around a large area. You might remember the effects the Exxon-Valdez spill had on Alaska in the 80’s, and more recently the BP Gulf of Mexico Spill in 2010. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that 1.3 million gallons of petroleum are spilled into U.S. waters each year.

Have you ever thought about how many different species exist? Earth currently has around 7.4 billion people living across seven continents. There are a variety of ecosystems that are home to many different types of animals, mammals, plants, and other organisms that can be seen both through a microscope and through the human eye.
